2.Chelsea
This seems somewhat unlikely, as Zlatan famously called Chelsea players “babies”, but that’s just part of his charm and there’s not really any reason to take what Ibra says seriously. With Antonio Conte seemingly increasingly likely to take the reigns next season and the Diego Costa departure rumors in full effect, there just might be mutual interest here. There are reports of a £20 million offer on the table though, the Ibra transfer doesn’t make a lot of sense.
If Costa does indeed depart for pastures new, the Blues could definitely use a top-class finisher, as their alternatives this season (Remy, Pato) have flopped and they have a league average conversion rate at 9.4% per Footyintheclouds. Further evidence proving Chelsea’s lack of finishing is their 12% conversion rate on shots inside the box – the 6th worst figure in the league, only ahead of Watford, Villa, Swansea and Newcastle. After all, despite having 11 goals so far, Diego Costa was anonymous until January and Cesc Fabregas is the second leading scorer with a miserable four goals! The biggest detriment to Zlatan signing there might actually be the manager, as the heir apparent to Hiddink; Antonio Conte, will probably prefer a quicker striker to Zlatan, perhaps opting for PSG teammate Edinson Cavani, who Conte will know from Serie A. Ironically, firing Jose Mourinho might not have been a smart move from a Zlatan perspective.
