There is a growing feeling of discontent with regards to Arsene Wenger, and Olivier Giroud has struggled to hit the back of the net recently, with only two goals in his last 13 games leading to a loss in popularity. There are a number of conflicting reports and rumours regarding his potential transfer, but there are a few decent reasons for signing the big Swede.

Firstly, PSG’s passing dominance this year fits neatly with Arsenal’s style, as both clubs also lead their respective divisions in possession as well as close-range shots (Arsenal have 326 inside the box per Footballintheclouds, while PSG have 261 per Whoscored.com). In addition, we have seen how Angel Di Maria; who struggled to assert himself on the Premier League, has been revitalized in Paris alongside Zlatan. Both the Argentine and the Swede have 11 assists and one can only salivate at the though of what the big Swede would do with those innumerable Mesut Özil key passes.

It makes for an interesting discovery that Olivier Giroud and Ibrahimovic have both featured for exactly 1939 minutes this season, with this detailing how they stack up. Briefly, Zlatan has been the superior performer this campaign; probably to nobody’s surprise, and would certainly offer an upgrade on the Frenchman despite his age.

Finally; and more humorously, Santi Cazorla perhaps knows something, since he recently admitted naming his dog Zlatan. Could his move to the Emirates be written in the stars?
