Tottenham Hotspur are being linked with a move for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
According to a report from Corriere del Mezzogiorno (via The Daily Star), the Senegal international is on Spurs’ transfer radar this January as well as Chelsea’s.

The fresh report comes after El Desmarque had claimed in December that Koulibaly was a target for the north Londoners.
Koulibaly is highly regarded by football fans, many of whom rate him up there with Virgil van Dijk as one of Europe’s very best centre-halves in the game right now.
Tottenham’s links to the player are sure to excite supporters, but a deal would surely be extremely difficult to pull off, especially mid-season.

One thing Spurs could consider, is to offer the Italians Jan Vertonghen as a sweetener.
Sky Sports have claimed Napoli are actually interested in the Belgian so maybe Daniel Levy can use the 32-year-old plus cash.
TBR’s view – Worth a punt
Napoli’s interest in Vertonghen surely means Tottenham have to try.

It would still be a very expensive transfer, but perhaps including Vertonghen would see Napoli’s stance soften a little.
Ideally Tottenham wouldn’t need to consider getting rid of Vertonghen, but his contract expires in the summer so a sale perhaps does need to be considered this window.
But if he can be used in a part-exchange that would see Koulibaly head to the capital, then that would be potentially stunning business.
