Could Tottenham keep midfield maestro after all?

Tottenham Hotspur could keep Christian Eriksen beyond the summer – because Real Madrid don’t want to negotiate with Daniel Levy.

That’s according to The Times, who claim the Spurs supremo’s shrewd ways are putting the Spanish heavyweights off a potential deal.

Apparently los Blancos are now ready to refocus their efforts on trying to secure Paul Pogba from Manchester United and Chelsea talisman Eden Hazard.

Real Madrid have been heavily linked with a summer move for Eriksen for months, but The Times claim Levy’s involvement in previous deals for Luka Modric and Gareth Bale might encourage them to abort plans to sign the Danish playmaker.

TBR’s view

Real Madrid are in desperate need of a squad overhaul and Eriksen’s contractual situation simply must be of interest to them.

It is thought that Spurs value him at £60 million with a year remaining, which would actually be decent business considering they need him now.

Eriksen is coming into his prime years now and is one of Europe’s most talented playmakers.

It is hard to believe that Real might be put off by having to negotiate with Levy, who would surely be up against it with Eriksen only having a year left.

He may have made life difficult for them with the Bale deal, but this situation is much different.
