Timothy Fosu-Mensah’s loan spell at Fulham has gone off the rails, with the Manchester United right back failing to nail down a starting place and undergoing a first team exile.
But on Friday, Fosu-Mensah posted a reconcilaitory message toward the Fulham fans on Twitter, potentially indicating the defender was due for a return to the Whites lineup.
“I want to apologise to the Fulham fans for not being able to show the best me,” Fosu-Mensah wrote, pledging he would work diligently to show the fanbase his true qualities. “It’s been a difficult season but I’m so grateful that you’ve stuck by Team.”

Signed on a season-long deal on deadline day, many at Fulham saw the young Dutchman as the ideal replacement for the outgoing Ryan Fredericks. Both possessed searing pace and a willingness to enter the attack, commendable qualities for a Fulham fullback.
Yet Fosu-Mensah failed to seize his opportunity at Craven Cottage. A decent start to the season was disrupted by a shoulder injury suffered against Everton. Once the loanee returned to action, he turned in two awful performances against Bournemouth and Huddersfield, where Fosu-Mensah gave away a needless penalty and scored an unfortunate own goal.

After his Huddersfield horror show in November, Fosu-Mensah has played just 62 league minutes since. Frozen out under Claudio Ranieri, the right back’s lone appearances came in dreadful substitute cameos against Arsenal and Crystal Palace.
The Manchester United man has appeared shaky at the back all season and has been maddeningly inconsistent when attacking, yet Scott Parker may be willing to give the youngster a chance in the final matches of the season.
If Timothy Fosu-Mensah does get the nod against Leicester City, it will be fascinating to see how the outcast responds to Parker’s new style of management.
