What a time to be a West Ham United fan.
Following a great Premier League campaign that saw them finish seventh, and with great in-form players such as Mark Noble, Aaron Cresswell and crucially Dimitri Payet, the fans have had plenty to sing about. Now, they are looking to establish themselves as consistent front runners with the capture of Sofiane Feghouli from Valencia and the move to the high-capacity London Olympic Stadium.
Slaven Bilic is at the helm of this new chapter in the Hammers’ history, and this summer having been linked with Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette, West Ham seem to be in the market for a new forward.
In all honesty, it may not be such a bad thing, because no disrespect to Andy Carroll, Diafra Sakho and Enner Valencia, if West Ham are to progress all the way and make it into Europe, then they made need extra firepower up top to get them there.
After seemingly pulling out of the race for French forward Lacazette, we have come up with three alternatives over the next couple of pages that West Ham could look to bring in this summer. Let us know your thoughts on the selection in the comments below, possibly including any other options that have not been suggested.
Saido Berahino
Berahino first broke onto the scene a couple of seasons ago with a great performance against Manchester United.
The 22-year-old is now approaching the prime of his career, and following a few hiccups at his current club West Bromwich Albion; mostly regarding his attitude, it looks as if his time with the Baggies is over.
The attitude issues he has displayed in the past may be a cause for concern for Slaven Bilic, but there is no doubting his skills on the pitch.
With a great turn of pace and the ability to finish off a chance superbly, Berahino would be an asset to West Ham’s attack and would likely be available for less than £10 million.
