Mauro Icardi

The 23-year-old registered 16 goals and four assists in 33 appearances for Inter Milan in the 15/16 Season and would
definitely strengthen United’s attack.

With Wayne Rooney seen as having a future in midfield and Anthony Martial extremely dangerous on the wing, the Red Devils are highly reliant on 18-year-old Marcus Rashford. The Euro 2016 hopeful is certainly a young talent, but Mourinho hardly has a history of relying on youth to provide results.

Mourinho has connections at the San Siro, having previously managed Inter Milan and that could be a factor in convincing Icardi to come to Old Trafford.

Inter qualified for next season’s Europa League and so; like Man United, are unable to offer football on Europe’s
biggest club stage.

However, United’s finances could certainly play a key role in convincing the Argentinian to leave the San Siro and move to Manchester, providing them with an attacking threat, something Van Gaal’s sides lacked more often than not.
