Nicolae Stanciu – Steaua Bucharest

This summer will see the European Championships increase to 24 teams, allowing some of the continent’s smaller nations feature. Romania are one of those this summer and will be hopeful of qualifying for the final 16, with matches against Switzerland and Albania in the group stage. Nicolae Stanciu could be their secret weapon, having only collected two caps to date. He is an exciting attacking midfielder, with lots of technical ability, displayed with his quality on the dribble. Stanciu is also excellent in the final third, as displayed time and time again for his club side. At the age of 23, he may be looking to move to a greater league and test himself.

Although Romania aren’t likely to go far in the competition, Stanciu will be keen to make his mark and announce himself to clubs in Europe’s top leagues. He is currently playing for Steaua Bucharest, who get regular Champions League football, but aren’t ever likely to make an impact on the competition. I think a move to the Premier League or the Bundesliga could be a genuine possibility if he plays well in France. He would offer an exciting, albeit raw attacking talent, for a reasonable price.
