Could these five free agents join your club this summer? feat. Chelsea and PSG legends

There have been some excellent free transfers down the years, with Sol Campbell, Andrea Pirlo, Esteban Cambiasso and Robert Lewandowski all coming to mind. In an era obsessed with big-money transfers, sometimes the out of contract players can be overlooked, but it remains an excellent way of building a squad and allows clubs to be more shrewd with their money. This summer will see some icons of the game and some up and comers become available for no transfer fee. I’ll be focusing on five of these in this article, so be sure to flick to the next page to see the final few.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

The biggest name to be available on a free this summer is without doubt Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who will see his spell at PSG come to an end. The forward has had another astonishing season, bagging 44 goals in all competitions for the Parisians. The Swede is still a world-class player and his increasing age isn’t having an effect on his ability. He has always relied on technical ability and he continues to dominate defences.

He has played in all the big European leagues; except the Premier League, and that surely has to be his next move. In recent weeks, he has been linked to Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool. All three mentioned would benefit from the quality that Ibrahimovic would bring. Chelsea may be losing Diego Costa this summer and seems to be the best fit for the forward, but it remains to be seen whether he needs his next club to be involved in European football.

Sofiane Feghouli

The Valencia winger is approaching the peak of his career and would be a good pick up for a lot of clubs across Europe this summer. His personal form has reflected that of his club, and he will be itching for a new start away from Valencia. He has been in and out of the team, but two goals in five Champions League matches this season shows that he can play at the top level. He is a skilful winger, who loves running at defenders and his final product is good on his day.

Feghouli needs a new start this summer and has been linked with a lot of clubs across Europe. Manchester United and Arsenal have been credited with an interest while many Turkish clubs have also been linked. He represents a gamble for clubs in European football as there is clearly a reason why Valencia have been reluctant to use him when fit. However, he would be a great squad option and could prosper in the right environment.
