MANCHESTER CITY
Pellegrini’s Pet
Martín Demichelis looks set to follow manager Manuel Pellegrini out of the club at the end of the season. The Argentine; who worked with Pellegrini before at Malaga, has been the cause of much frustration for City fans over the last and it is very unlikely that he would fit into new manager Pep Guardiola’s plans next season.
The contract of third-choice ‘keeper Richard Wright; who has not played a game for the club in four seasons, is also set to expire. Wright; who has two England caps to his name, will likely hang up his gloves come the end of the season.
MANCHESTER UNITED
One Old and One Young
Michael Carrick has been a mainstay in Man United’s midfield over the last ten seasons but it appears his time at Old Trafford may be coming to an end with no new deal on the horizon. With five Premier League titles and a Champions League medal to his name, Carrick would be a big loss in terms of experience for United and the England international has already been linked with a move to Premier League rivals Everton. As things stand, 19-year old Cameron Borthwick-Jackson is also without a contract for next season but Louis van Gaal has indicated that a negotiations have been entered into for a new deal.
NEWCASTLE UNITED
Throwing Out the French
Sylvain Marveaux and Gabriel Obertan look set to be latest of the French imports to leave Newcastle. The duo have failed to impress at St. James Park over the last few seasons and have fallen out of favour with the club’s management. It is unlikely that either will remain in the Premier League so a return to France or a drop to the Championship could be on the cards for both.
Newcastle could also be losing to academy graduates come the end of the season. 20-year old England youth international Rolando Aarons is yet to sign a new deal with the club while long-serving centre-back Steven Taylor could finally be on his way out after 20 years of service to the club.
NORWICH CITY
Time’s Running Out
As things stand, Norwich will be losing Gary O’Neil and Alexander Tettey on a free at the end of the season. Both O’Neil and Tettey have proven to be valuable players for the club so it would be surprising to see the club release them for nothing when the current campaign ends. Losing the duo would cause a massive rift in leadership at Carrow Road, with Tettey and O’Neil currently serving as the vice and third captains of the club respectively.
The contract of Scotland international Steven Whittaker is also set to expire.
