Just under 24 hours after Crystal Palace fell to defeat against Chelsea in the Premier League, defender Scott Dann led the U-23s to a 2-0 win over Millwall.
The 31-year-old is continuing his recovery from a long-term knee injury suffered in December 2017, and his return could help shore up the Eagle’s leaky defence.
On Sunday, Palace were particularly suspect at the back, with Alvaro Morata scoring a laughably cheap goal after nonexistent marking from a free kick.
Defensive struggles have been a worrying aspect of Palace’s play this year, and although the centre-half partnership of James Tomkins and Mamadou Sahko has impressed before, the added bonus of competition at the back will surely come as a positive for Roy Hodgson.
Dann was a mainstay in the Palace side before his injury against Manchester City last season, and offers an experienced option in defence with 200 Premier League appearances to his name.
With Scott Dann making his way back to the first team picture, Crystal Palace’s defence may soon be solidified on his return.
A passionate, determined, and streetwise centre-back who is domineering in the air, the 31-year-old will surely sort out the Eagles’ leaky backline when he completes his injury comeback.
