It is no secret that Newcastle United are eyeing some reinforcements in January as they continue their ascent up the Premier League table.
Form has picked up in recent weeks and Rafa Benitez’s men are now 14th, with a four-point gap over the bottom three.
But Benitez will still want a few new faces in January; ideally, two full-backs, a striker and a creative midfielder.
And according to Ghana Soccer Net, Newcastle’s scouts have been keeping their tabs on Robin Quaison.
Currently at Mainz, Quaison is a naturally talented midfielder who can play on either flank or through the middle.
The Sweden international is not the finished product but he has enjoyed relatively successful spells in Sweden, Italy and Germany.
Quaison started his career with local club AIK before a 2014 move to Palermo. In his three seasons with the Serie A side, Quaison scored eight times in 70 games.
He moved to Mainz in January 2017, netting four Bundesliga goals last season.
And this term, Quaison has scored three goals and registered two assists in 14 games.
The 25-year-old would be a risky signing but given his creative ability and his decent goal scoring track record, he might be worth a gamble for the Magpies.
