Fresh off winning Fulham’s Player of the Season award by a landslide, striker Ross McCormack has been linked with a number of moves away from Craven Cottage. The Daily Mail reported that Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez would attempt to lure McCormack to St James’ Park; and the Telegraph claimed that Aston Villa and Norwich were interested in the Scot. It seems increasingly likely that Fulham’s leading goalscorer will be exiting SW6 this summer, and his absence would leave a huge gap in Fulham’s strikeforce.
Losing McCormack would be a massive blow for Fulham, considering McCormack’s gargantuan influence on their attack. The striker contributed 21 goals and 9 assists last season, having a hand in nearly half of the Whites’ 66 goals. Without McCormack, Fulham would almost certainly be sitting in League One, as his lethal finishing and intelligent playmaking propelled the Cottagers to safety.
Yet all is not lost if the Scottish striker decides to leave Fulham this offseason. Although McCormack was by far Fulham’s best player last season, he isn’t getting any younger and turns 30 this August. Here are three young, pacy, and capable replacements that could fill McCormack’s shoes at Fulham.
