2. Benjamin Moukandjo (Lorient)
The 27 – year old Lorient striker has been capped on 36 occasions by Cameroon. He is a pacey forward and a real handful for defenders with his ability to get in behind and stretch defences, either centrally or out wide. A versatile option for Guidolin’s three up front setup, he also shows a poacher’s instinct in the box, having scored the majority of his 13 Lorient goals in 2015-16 from inside the penalty area.
The Cameroonian would bring a lot of the qualities sorely missed at the Liberty since Wilfred Bony left for Manchester City, but lacks the same strength in holding up the ball with his back to goal. He is also by all accounts a very direct player, which would slot in well for Guidolin’s three pronged attack. His pace would also suit the counter attacking game which yielded victories against Liverpool and West Ham in the latter stages of the 2015-16 season.
Moukandjo’s versatility would allow the Italian coach some much needed flexibility in his attacking options also, and with the forward’s current employers Lorient short of any real wealth, a bid in the region of £8m may be enough to prise him away from the Brittany club, making him a viable buy financially for the Swans. He has one year left to run on his current contract in France, but with Sunderland and West Brom reportedly keeping tabs on the player, he is another target for which the Swans would need to move soon. Though with their newfound financial punch, they would probably be in pole position to land their man if an approach were to be made.
