Could new contract be a precursor to Kyle Walker-Peters loan deal?

It looks like being quite the 24 hours for Tottenham Hotspur full-back Kyle Walker-Peters. The youngster signed a new deal at Tottenham Hotspur yesterday, keeping him at the club until 2023.

Now, with Serge Aurier and Kieran Trippier both injured, he is set to start against Barcelona in the Champions League tonight.

For some Tottenham fans, it is what Walker-Peters deserves. Many rate him as the club’s best young talent and he looks ready to prove himself.

However, could this new contract actually be an indication that he is on his way out of the club in January?

More often or not, a new contract like this for a fringe youngster is usually followed up by a loan spell away from the club.

Aurier and Trippier may currently be out but the pair still remain ahead of him in the pecking order at right-back. Walker-Peters is equally adept at left-back, however, Ben Davies and Danny Rose have that covered.

It would certainly make sense to see Walker-Peters join a struggling Premier League team or promotion-chasing Championship side in January.

Impress v Barcelona tonight and the queue for his services will be very long.
