Mario Gotze will reportedly leave Borussia Dortmund for free at the end of the season. Bild has confirmed that the midfielder will not sign a new deal – but could he be set for a reunion with former boss Klopp at Liverpool?
The 27-year-old was reportedly offered new terms but will instead seek a new challenge when the season comes to an end. There will no doubt be several clubs pursuing his services on a free this summer and talksport have suggested that Liverpool could be a possible destination.

Gotze and Klopp were at Dortmund together when the German was coming up through the ranks. They struck up a very close relationship and have kept in contact since.
The Dortmund attacking midfielder’s career has taken some interesting turns since his first spell at the German club. He made a move to Bayern Munich in 2013 before returning to the Yellows just three years later. A metabolic illness then halted his progress before he refound his form, going on to make over 200 appearances for the club.

His Dortmund exit will no doubt be a big moment for the player and the club. It will be interesting to see where Gotze chooses to ply his trade next. If one thing is for sure, a reunion with the manager who nurtured him into professional football is not out of the question just yet.
At just 27, he still has a lot to offer. If anyone is to get the best out of Gotze, it is likely to be Klopp.
