While Tyler Roberts has struggled with injuries, there is no question that there are plenty of signs suggesting that he is going to prove to be an outstanding signing for Leeds United.
Roberts took some time to get going after his £4 million move from West Bromwich Albion (fee reported by the Daily Mail). He did not make his Whites debut for some time. But he was superb during the latter stages of last season.
His form before his latest injury suggested that he was ready to pick up where he left off. And with the Daily Mail recently reporting that Marcelo Bielsa has held extensive talks with the Wales international after deciding that he would be the side’s regular number 10, it appears that the move could prove to a masterstroke in years to come.
And perhaps, based on more recent reports, there is a chance that Leeds could be looking to replicate their move for Roberts with a potential bid for a current West Brom prospect.
Leeds looking at Tulloch
The Daily Mail reported earlier this month that a number of sides from the Premier League and Championship are looking at Rayhaan Tulloch. And Leeds are said to be one.
Tulloch – like Roberts – is capable of playing up front or in a slightly deeper position. It is speculated by the Mail that he could be tempted to consider his future if he is struggling to break into Slaven Bilic’s plans by the end of the season.
It remains to be seen whether he shows any desire to leave. But if he does push for a move at any stage, perhaps Roberts’s promise may tempt Bielsa to back a move for Tulloch.
Bielsa will obviously prioritise what his own research shows before pushing for Leeds to sign Tulloch. But the similarities with Roberts may give him further confidence as he weighs up the level of progress that the West Brom man can make in the future.
