Could Ewan Henderson be Celtic's next first-team breakthrough star?
Mikey Johnston’s rapid rise to first-team stardom has underlined just how impressive Celtic’s academy set-up has been in recent years.
Johnston is the latest in a long line of Celtic starlets to break into the first-team and impress.
The 19-year-old was given his chance in midweek when Odsonne Edouard went off injured.
And he took it with both hands, scoring his first senior goal in his 16th game with a stunning long-range strike.
The Scotland under-21 international then followed that up with a brace against Dundee at the weekend.
Johnston could be in line for an extended stay in the Celtic side, joining fellow academy graduates Anthony Ralston, James Forrest, Kieran Tierney and Callum McGregor in the first-team.
And he could be followed by Ewan Henderson, who will hope to be next in the Celtic production line.
The 18-year-old midfielder has already made his first-team debut, featuring against Kilmarnock last May.
Celtic fans may be more familiar with his brother – Liam Henderson – who now plays in Italy after deciding to pursue a career away from Scotland.
And there is real hope that Ewan can take his career further at Celtic, unlike his older brother.
The Scotland youth international has been a regular for Celtic’s youth sides and is standing out at that level.
After impressing in pre-season, Henderson’s next step will be getting in the first-team and proving he belongs there.
