Everton want to sign Brighton striker Neal Maupay from under the noses of newly-promoted Nottingham Forest.
Fabrizio Romano recently reported that negotiations were close to being concluded over a deal to take Maupay to the City Ground.
But it has not been confirmed yet and TalkSPORT’s Alex Crook says that Everton are one of two clubs trying to hijack the deal.
According to The Daily Mail (print edition, page 81, August 12, 2022), Everton have considered signing Maupay this summer as they search for a striker to replace Richarlison.

Everton want Maupay
It seemed Forest had won the race but Everton have not given up and it seems that they could yet be the ones to land the Frenchman.
That is similar to what happened with Amadou Onana, who looked all set to be going to West Ham before Everton pulled a deal out of the bag.
Another newly-promoted club in the shape of Fulham are apparently keen on Maupay too, to boost their firepower in attack.
Everton saw off one of their former managers in David Moyes to land Onana and they go up against another for Maupay – Marco Silva.
Maupay has been described as ‘incredible‘ by Brighton manager Graham Potter, but he is seemingly close to the exit door.
Can Everton get the deal over the line or will Maupay join the host of new arrivals at Forest this summer? Only time will tell.
