Aston Villa spent close to £100m in the summer to help them survive in the Premier League. It now seems that investment could come back to bite them, as Financial Fair Play sanctions begin to loom.
Although the need to raise funds is not immediate, as books do not need to be balanced until May 31st, Villa will want to start raising the necessary funds sooner rather than later.

Grealish is the sale that would produce the most income for the club, with reports circulating of a £45 million release clause. The 24-year-old has been a shining light in a season where Villa have struggled. They are currently sat 17th and in real danger of relegation back to the Championship.
Selling Grealish could be the nail in the coffin for the Midlands club. Although it would ease the pressure to sell come the end of the season, would it be worth it?

The club will receive parachute payments if they are relegated which will help to a certain extent. However, money raised from player sales is what will get them out of FFP trouble.
There will no doubt be some top clubs circling if Grealish is made available. Aston Villa have an important decision to make. Do they sell Grealish to relieve some summer tension, or do they hold on to him in an attempt to survive this season?
