Could Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun stance now affect Liverpool?

Arsenal have reportedly knocked back an approach from Sheffield United for their young striker Folarin Balogun – and that could have significance for Liverpool with regards to Rhian Brewster.

According to The Daily Mail, the Gunners rejected an offer of £3 million for the 19-year-old, with the north Londoners demanding a fee of £15 million.

That asking price comes despite the fact Balogun has never made a first-team appearance.

The Blades are said to be stunned by Arsenal’s demand, especially given the player only has a year left on his contract at the Emirates.

The development could now have significance for Liverpool, whose striker Rhian Brewster is also a reported target for Sheffield United.

Sky Sports reported this week that the two clubs have been in talks over the England U21 international, with the Reds apparently insisting on a buy-back clause.

Sheffield United really need a new striker in, and it seems as though they and Arsenal are poles apart regarding Balogun.

If the Blades wanted Balogun, then one would imagine Brewster is likely to be their next port of call as another young English striker.

The difference between the two being Brewster has had more first-team experience after his Swansea City loan last term.
