Could Arsenal have advantage over Spurs in Ilaix Moriba race?

Arsenal and Spurs could potentially be involved in a transfer scrap this summer, with Spanish outlet El Gol Digital reporting that both clubs want Barcelona youngster Ilaix Moriba.

Moriba is attracting attention from the Premier League pair after bursting into the first-team fold at the Nou Camp at the start of the year.

According to El Gol Digital, his contract expires in 2022. So it seems likely that the situation will come to a head this summer – whether he stays and signs a new deal, or leaves – potentially for North London.

It remains to be seen whether the 18-year-old would have any interest in joining Arsenal or Spurs.

But perhaps it would be fair to say that it is the Gunners who could have a potential trump card if a race really gets going.

The Daily Mirror reported earlier this month that Barcelona want Hector Bellerin. In fact, it is claimed that Juan Laporta has agreed with the right-back that he will try to sign him this summer.

Bellerin interest offers Arsenal a boost?

Bellerin – who earns £110,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – is reportedly open to returning to Barca. And the Mirror noted that his contract expires in 2023. So he is slowly approaching the crucial final two years of his deal.

The issue is not quite as pressing for Arsenal as Moriba’s is for the Catalan side. But the Gunners may consider this summer to be a good time to let Bellerin go.

And should they enter into talks, they can surely look to agree the terms that sees Moriba move in the opposite direction.

If Barca become resigned to losing him at any stage, they will surely welcome the chance to use him to boost their hopes of landing a target of their own.

And that may prove crucial as Arsenal look to win the race.
