Could Andy Dallas’ prolific form for Rangers put him in Steven Gerrard’s thinking?

Rangers may have had a positive start to the campaign in Europe, but their domestic form has been somewhat cause for concern. That has opened the door to youngsters to stake a claim, and Andy Dallas could be the next man to do just that.

The 19-year-old scored a hat-trick for Rangers’ under 19s as they beat Hamburg on Tuesday afternoon, sparking calls for a first team opportunity.

The centre-forward is yet to be involved with the first team, but Steven Gerrard has shown that he will give youth a chance with the likes of Glenn Middleton standing out in particular.

Dallas could be the next man to join the first team squad for action if he continues his form with the youth team, particularly as Alfredo Morelos struggles for form.

In addition, Kyle Lafferty was hauled off for Middleton in the defeat to Livingston at the weekend, perhaps reflecting that Gerrard may consider an alternative in attack.

It would be a big step up for Dallas, but his recent form in the youth ranks shows that he would go into it full of confidence.
