Copa America could spell trouble for Everton this summer

Everton fans have had to deal with several reports regarding the future of star attacker Richarlison in recent weeks. As reported by The Mirror, the likes of PSG and Atletico Madrid are both keen on the player. Everton have slapped a £70 million price-tag on the player as a consequence.

Everton’s hopes of keeping Richarlison could undoubtedly be hampered by the 22-year-old’s participation in this summer’s Copa America.

Brazil, as host nation, are one of the favourites for the competition. Richarlison is expected to play a big role for Tite’s side after an impressive start to international football.

If Richarlison was to shine on the international stage, the interest from foreign clubs would only grow. Performances in tournaments like this are given high regard by scouting departments. By outshining his team-mates, Richarlison could easily become a breakout star of the competition.

On top of that, think of the company Richarlison is currently mixing with. The Brazil team has players from top European clubs. PSG, Atletico, Barcelona, and Real Madrid are all represented. Being among those players might have Richarlison thinking he should be playing at the same level.

Hopefully not, as far as Everton are concerned. The club and its fans will want Richarlison to do well in Brazil. However, they will not want him coming back to Goodison Park feeling he has already outgrown the club. Especially after just one season.

Because at a certain price, Everton will find it very hard to say no to selling their Brazilian talent.
