‘Convince him’, ‘yes’: Some Spurs fans react to links with £26m-rated Dani Alves-like gem

A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on the transfer report linking Spurs with Ajax right-back Sergino Dest.

According to Calciomercato, Tottenham remain keen on signing the 19-year-old this summer, having previously been linked with him in October.

Dest has enjoyed a superb breakthrough season at Ajax, making 36 appearances in all competitions including 20 in the Eredivisie and five in the Champions League.

In October, Bleacher Report claimed that both Spurs and Arsenal were following the United States international closely, though that was before Jose Mourinho became manager.

The Calciomercato report has once again credited Tottenham with an interest, and it’s little surprise given right-back is such a problem position for Spurs at present.

While Dest has also been linked with Bayern Munich, Dutch outlet Voetbal International claims interest from the Bundesliga giants has been put on hold for the time being.

The Guardian previously said Dest models his game on Dani Alves and Marcelo.

The outlet quotes US Under-20 head coach Tab Ramos as saying: “He’s almost one of those Brazilian outside-backs who can hurt you because, at times, they’re almost like a No 10 – they have that kind of skill. His strength is his unpredictability when he attacks.”
