Everton lost 2-0 against Sheffield United on Saturday afternoon and Tom Davies was once again overlooked. Marco Silva left Davies on the bench as Sheffield United stunned Everton at Goodison Park.
Yesterday’s game was yet another missed opportunity for Silva with Davies waiting in the wings. This is starting to emerge as Silva’s blind spot as he continues to select others ahead of Davies.
Davies snubbed again

Davies was an unused substitute again for Everton – for the fourth time this season! And Silva has even omitted Davies from his squad on two occasions, including the EFL Cup clash with Lincoln City.
The 21-year-old has only got on the pitch on one occasion this season, appearing as a late substitute against Crystal Palace on the opening day. Given Davies’ ability, he should have been given more than 11 minutes of action.
Vacancies available in midfield
Everton definitely have some spaces available in the midfield ranks. Morgan Schneiderlin has been hit-and-miss while Fabian Delph struggled against Sheffield United.
With Andre Gomes’ fitness becoming a concern and Jean-Philippe Gbamin out injured, Davies should be getting more games. Silva definitely needs to think about bringing Davies in.
Davies stars for England U21s

Davies’ main playing time this season was during the international break. The England U21 captain excelled for the young Lions in games against Turkey and Kosovo.
The youngster was operating in a defensive midfield role – deeper than he has played before. After his impressive performance as a holding midfielder, Silva needs to rethink his strategy and give Davies another chance.
