Fabrizio Romano has shared comments from Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte responding to reports Arsenal are working on a deal for Dusan Vlahovic.

Conte is still awaiting the chance to make his first signing as Spurs boss. Fans may have expected Tottenham to be extremely busy this month.

Interestingly, one of those players apparently on the club’s radar is Vlahovic. Of course, the striker has been sensational for Fiorentina. He has 17 league goals this season.

However, Arsenal appear to have the strongest links with Vlahovic right now. In fact, a £59 million bid from the Gunners is reportedly imminent. And Mikel Arteta’s men are prepared to offer the 21-year-old a huge contract. He could reportedly earn more than £300,000-a-week.

The idea of Vlahovic going to Arsenal was put to the Tottenham boss. But he insisted that he is simply focused on what is going on at Tottenham.

Arsenal signing Vlahovic would be tough for Tottenham and Conte

Obviously, Arsenal have plenty to do before they sign Vlahovic. It would certainly be an incredible piece of business. He has been lauded as a ridiculous player by Micah Richards.

From the player’s perspective, you can understand why the Gunners may appeal more. Arteta has taken Arsenal forward this season. And there is an opportunity for a striker to jump straight to the top of the pecking order at the Emirates.

At Tottenham however, that chance is not there. Harry Kane has been excellent of late. He was ‘simply magnificent‘ on Wednesday as Spurs beat Leicester in an incredible game.

But seeing Vlahovic move to their rivals would arguably be a bitter pill for Conte. Tottenham are yet to strengthen this month.

Conte has done a brilliant job so far. But there are still major concerns. Certain areas of the squad need improving.

So watching a top-four rival – and Arsenal, at that – sign Vlahovic would be hugely disappointing.
