Antonio Conte has suggested that he is a fan of Cristian Romero and insisted that the Tottenham Hotspur centre-back has lots of room to improve further – in comments reported by Football London.
Romero has reminded everyone of just how good he can be. He was colossal at the weekend as Tottenham booked their spot in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

It has been a mixed campaign for the Argentinian. But when he has been out on the pitch, he has been outstanding. However, injury has severely limited just how often he has played since his move to Tottenham.
Remarkably, he was making only his second appearance for Spurs since Conte’s appointment at the weekend. His first came in the Italian’s first game in charge, against Everton back in November.

Romero has certainly created a buzz amongst Tottenham fans. But Conte has suggested that he could now get considerably better still.
“He is an important player for me,” he said, as reported by Football London. “He is a new signing for me because he played three games with me, and only one game in the league.
“He is an important player for me and the team. He is strong and he anticipates, he has a good personality to play with the ball. He has good experience and I like him. He has a lot of space for improvement.”
Romero one of the players Tottenham can build side around moving forward
Tottenham are clearly not yet the finished article. There are a number of areas Conte is likely to want to strengthen in the summer. And centre-back may perhaps still be one.
However, Romero is one of the players Conte’s Tottenham side can be built around. It is almost frightening to think that he is only 23 years of age.
He was Serie A’s best defender last year. And he helped Argentina win the Copa America in the summer. His performances since coming to Tottenham hint that adapting to the Premier League is not going to be a problem for Romero.
Spurs have a handful of world-class players. Harry Kane is certainly one, and many would argue that Son Heung-min is another.
Perhaps it may not be too long until people are putting Romero in the same category.
