'Conte is a big fan': Spurs boss backed to unleash player who hasn't featured since January

Tottenham Hotspur ace Oliver Skipp is set to be unleashed by Antonio Conte after the international break.

This is according to journalist Paul Brown, who told GiveMeSport that the Spurs boss is a big fan of the youngster.

Skipp has come back off a series of injuries which have kept him out of competitive action for Spurs since January.

The 22-year-old was previously out with a groin injury, for which he underwent surgery in April.

Skipp then suffered a foot injury in training ahead of the start of Tottenham’s season.

The ‘freak injury’ apparently left Spurs players shaken and the youngster had to have stitches in his foot.

However, Skipp is now fit again, having played for England Under-21s in their win over Italy’s U21s on Thursday.

Prior to the international break, the midfielder made a number of Spurs matchday squads on the subs’ bench.

And now, according to Brown, Conte will start using Skipp once Tottenham return to action.

Asked whether he thinks Skipp’s starting chances will improve next month, he told GiveMeSport: “I do, yeah.

“Conte is a big fan of Skipp; he’s played him a lot since he’s been there. He likes his drive, energy, and determination.

“I think he’s a player who does exactly what he’s told and fits the system quite well, because Conte knows he can rely on him.”

Tottenham are next in action on Saturday 1 October when they take on Arsenal away in the North London derby.
