Antonio Conte hints that out of favour Tottenham man could start against Morecambe
Tottenham Hotspur take on Morecambe in the FA Cup tomorrow and manager Antonio Conte has hinted that French midfielder, Tanguy Ndombele, is set to play.
Ndombele has been out of favour for much of the season. He has often been overlooked on the bench, with Conte preferring other players ahead of the club’s record signing. Indeed, Spurs are reported to have even offered Ndombele to Juventus in exchange for Weston McKennie.
However, despite the lack of game-time, an FA Cup tie against lower league opposition could open the door for a number of Spurs players. And speaking to Football.London, Antonio Conte has admitted that Ndombele could get a chance after impressing in training.
“Tanguy is showing a good commitment, a good attitude in training sessions. He has had an opportunity, a chance against Liverpool and then the second half against Chelsea. Probably he could play on Sunday in the FA Cup,” Conte said.
Spurs will be desperate to win out tomorrow. The FA Cup is a huge chance for them to win a trophy under Conte, and they’ll be mindful of what happened to Newcastle earlier today. Ndombele, then, will hope to impress if given the nod.
TBR’s View: Ndombele Needs To Seize His Chance For Tottenham
Well, he does if he thinks he has any sort of future at the club. A game against a team from lower down the pyramid is the ideal chance for him. He’ll have time on the ball, and will get the chance to show that he can dominate against lesser players.
If Ndombele does fancy impressing Conte, then tomorrow is his chance. If he can play well, guide Spurs to the win, and even nick a goal, it could do wonders.
Tottenham fans want Ndombele to succeed. It just seems that it’s going to take a miracle for him to ever really get going.
