Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has the option to give summer signing Clement Lenglet his first start tomorrow against Wolves.

The defender missed the clash with Chelsea through injury and there was some concern at Spurs that the Frenchman might be missing for a period of time to hinder his start to life as a Spurs player. However, it appears that things have more than calmed down, with Antonio Conte confirming Lenglet is fit and raring to go for Wolves tomorrow.

“Clement is okay. He had a training session with us and he’s okay. He’s available for the game against Wolverhampton,” Conte said ahead of Bruno Lage’s side visiting North London.

Lenglet has featured for just four minutes so far this season but is expected to play a key role for Tottenham as the season goes on.

The 27-year-old was signed by Conte on a season-long loan deal to bring more depth to the defensive area. And while a start might be a surprise against Wolves tomorrow, Conte does at least have the option to throw his new man in.

TBR’s View: Lenglet Will Help Tottenham In Europe

At the moment, the Spurs back three of Davies, Dier and Romero seems pretty untouchable. And for good reason as well, given the trio have been in fine fettle for some time now.

However, Lenglet will get his chance eventually you feel. And with Spurs in Europe, the Frenchman might well be useful on those European nights against continental teams.

Lenglet was signed for a reason and he’s not simply going to sit on the bench all season. Of course, he could play tomorrow against Wolves and he’d surely relish that challenge. But even if he doesn’t, then down the line Clement Lenglet will get opportunities to impress under Conte.
