Leeds United have recalled Irishman Conor Shaughnessy from his loan spell at Mansfield Town. However, it does not appear that he is set to play a role in the Whites’ promotion chase. Instead, as reported by the Mansfield and Ashfield Chad, Shaughnessy is expected to head to League One side Burton Albion on loan for the rest of the season.
Shaughnessy initially impressed at Mansfield under former boss John Dempster. He was sacked in December and Shaugnessy is now heading elsewhere.

Mansfield assistant boss Joe Dunne was certainly disappointed at the decision, as he explained to the Mansfield and Ashfield Chad, calling it ‘a shame’.
“Unfortunately, Conor has been recalled by Leeds which is disappointing.
“It’s a shame for us not really having had a chance to work with him as a staff and management.
“He was injured when we came here, but we’ve lost him now so we move on.”
As for Shaughnessy, he will now be hoping to play regular football in League One, as he will surely have his eyes on a move away from Elland Road long-term.
Marcelo Bielsa appeared to be a fan of Shaughnessy when he first arrived at Leeds and often name-checked him as a potential central defensive option. However, the Irishman suffered with injuries and soon dropped down the pecking order.
He headed to Hearts on loan last season and this summer it was clear he is not in Bielsa’s first-team plans.
The 23-year-old is under contract at Leeds until 2021 so will need to impress enough on loan to find a permanent buyer for his services should his time at Leeds be coming to an end.
