Conor Coady has hailed the brilliance of his Wolverhampton Wanderers teammate Diogo Jota, who has hit a purple patch of form.
Jota has scored five goals in his last two appearances for Wolves and has taken his season tally up to 14 goals across all competitions.
The Portuguese attacker fired a hat-trick last week during a Europa League Round of 32 tie against Espanyol, as Wolves earned a 4-0 aggregate lead in the first leg.
He then followed that up with a brace in the 3-0 Premier League win over Norwich City at the weekend
Jota’s strike partner Raul Jimenez is usually the forward stealing all the headlines, but it’s been roles reversed in the last week.
Wolves captain Coady has raved about the quality of Jota due to his recent performances and believes he’s a top talent.
“We know Diogo scores goals, but it’s everything else that he brings to the team; everything out of possession, how hard he works to win the ball back,” Coady said, as quoted by the club’s official website.
“We saw it numerous times against Norwich, where he’s collecting the ball in his own half and running the full length of the pitch to get us up the field, so he’s a phenomenal footballer and it’s a pleasure to have him here.”
Jota is certainly one of the most underrated players in the Wolves squad and when he’s on form he is a nightmare for opponents.
The 23-year-old has gone through patches of goalscoring form throughout his Molineux career so far, but one aspect that doesn’t change is his brilliant work-rate and he offers so much to the system.
He’s a great option in attack alongside Jimenez and has a tireless work-rate when he works coming off the left flank too.
Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has built a brilliant side that should go deep in the Europa League competition and they are also just five points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea in the Premier League.
