Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Conor Coady has branded Adama Traore ‘outstanding’ after his brace sunk Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
The Black Country club stunned Premier League viewers by beating the champions 2-0, despite having been in Europa League action in Turkey against Beskitas on Thursday.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side frustrated the Citizens until the 80th minute, when they counter-attacked through Raul Jimenez and Traore.
The Spaniard finished with aplomb, and then added a second in injury time with a goal just as well taken.
Wolves fans have been excited watching the much improved Traore this season, and Coady said of the 23-year-old (Shropshire Star): “We know what he brings to this club. He is an outstanding footballer. His pace and his power, everything about him. He is a brilliant lad as well. ”
Traore’s two goals mean he has already surpassed his tally of one in the 2018/19 season.
It finally looks as though something has clicked with £18 million signing Traore (BBC Sport), and the rest of the Premier League ought to be fearful.
He is a huge weapon for Santo, especially in scenarios like Sunday when the team was forced to play on the counter.
It is important for him now not to let his promising level drop – the confidence he has played with so far has manifested it’s way to the stands and the Wolves faithful are loving what they’re seeing from the Spanish speedster. Their support can help him thrive.
