Congerton’s most pressing Leicester concern should be getting Tielemans tied down

Brendan Rodgers has called on Leicester City to get on with signing Youri Tielemans on a permanent basis before a summer bidding war erupts, according to the Daily Star.

Rodgers, who joined the Foxes from Celtic earlier this season, has been joined by another recruit from Parkhead in the shape of transfer guru Lee Congerton.

With recruitment more important than ever, Rodgers has called on his transfer staff, headed up by Congerton now, to get the loan signing of Tielemans made permanent.

Jamie Vardy, as per the Leicester Mercury, is among the Foxes players who have been bowled over by how good the Belgian international has been since his deadline day loan move from Monaco.

Vardy said: “It is down to the club and if they try to sign him it is down to the hierarchy to try and sort that deal out. He has been amazing. He is a great lad as well. He just wants to get on with football – work and enjoy it – and he has definitely been doing that.”

It’s no secret now that Leicester are very keen on Tielemans, but just as Everton are finding with Andre Gomes, keeping hold of an impressive loanee when other clubs start to sniff around can be tricky.

That’s where Congerton starts to earn his money. It’s hard enough finding talent from outside your own four walls so when there’s quality inside the King Power like Tielemans, the transfer mastermind cannot afford to let it get away.
