Conflicting reports on Rangers’ hopes of signing Ryan Kent

Rangers fans were likely left fairly pleased with a report from the Daily Mail yesterday evening. The report claimed that Steven Gerrard was closing in on a deal to bring the Liverpool winger back to Ibrox for a second loan spell next season.

The report claims that Rangers ‘are confident’ they will win the race to sign Kent for another season.

It is obviously great news if true. Kent was sensational at times for Rangers last season and his performances in the Old Firm derby fixtures, in particular, made him a fan favourite.

However, it conflicts with comments from The Sun’s Alan Nixon. He seemed to suggest on his official Twitter page that he doesn’t believe Kent will be heading back to Scotland, instead opting to play in England to further develop his game.

Kent’s future is obviously of huge interest to Rangers fans.

As per the Daily Mail’s report, Leeds United are now in the hunt for Kent as well, so there is serious competition for his services.

Rangrs fans will certainly hope that the first report proves true as keeping hold of Kent would be huge for the Ibrox club’s hopes of closing in on Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
