Jose Mourinho has made five changes to his Tottenham Hotspur side to take on RedBull Leipzig in the north London club’s Champions League second-leg tie, as Spurs look to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg.
Timo Werner – who has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool ahead of the summer window – scored the only goal of the game last time out from the penalty spot, as an injury-ravaged Spurs failed to cope with Julian Nagelsmann’s side.
Steven Bergwijn has suffered a fractured ankle following Saturday evening’s 1-1 draw with Burnley, which Mourinho has since confirmed will likely see the Dutch ace ruled out for the rest of the 2019-20 campaign.
Gio Lo Celso, Harry Winks, Serge Aurier, Ryan Sessegnon and Lucas Moura were all benched for Saturday, and they have come back into the side – replacing Tanguy Ndombele, Oliver Skipp, Bergwijn, Jan Vertonghen and Davinson Sanchez.
Bergwijn misses the clash, as does Ben Davies, Harry Kane, Moussa Sissoko, Son Heung-min and Juan Foyth who are all sidelined through injury. It remains to be seen what formation Mourinho will use.
Tottenham’s confirmed line-up, then, is as reads: Hugo Lloris; Serge Aurier, Eric Dier, Toby Alderweireld, Japhet Tanganga, Ryan Sessegnon; Harry Winks, Gio Lo Celso; Erik Lamela, Dele Alli, Lucas Moura.
