Aston Villa have had an incredible transfer window so far, and they’re not finished yet.
Indeed, after signing the likes of Moussa Diaby, Pau Torres and Youri Tielemans, Villa are still in for another top-quality midfielder.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Villa are in for Nicolo Zaniolo from Galatasaray.
Zaniolo was seen as one of Italy’s top stars as a youngster, but a bad injury and a falling out with Jose Moruinho at Roma derailed his career.
However, since heading to Turkey, Zaniolo has, once again, been showing how much ability he has, and after six months in the Super Lig, he’s already being offered a return to one of Europe’s top five leagues.
Of course, this isn’t the first time Zaniolo has been courted by an English club. In January, both Tottenham and Bournemouth were in for the Italian, and now, Villa are keen.
As Romano says, Monchi was the man who signed Zaniolo at Roma back in the day, and that existing relationship could help the Midlands club get this deal over the line.

Newcastle are also said to be keen on the ‘incredible’ midfielder, but as Villa have shown this summer, they’re not ones to back down in the transfer market these days, even when they have to compete with the biggest and richest clubs in the world.
Zaniolo is certainly an interesting target for Villa. As an attacking midfielder he’d fit in well in Unai Emery’s side, but we can’t help but wonder what this signing would mean for the likes of Emi Buendia, Jacob Ramsey and Philippe Coutinho.
Of course, with European football on the horizon, Villa will need more depth than ever before, and bringing Zaniolo to the club certainly won’t hurt their chances of competing on both domestic and European fronts next season.
