Cesc Fabregas knows a thing or two about what it takes to run an Arsenal midfield.
The Spaniard was one of the biggest success stories to come from the Arsenal youth set up.
After excelling for the Gunners, Fabregas went on to shine with the likes of Barcelona and Chelsea, as well as being a key player for Spain.
Of course, Fabregas now looks on with a smile at what Arsenal are doing under Mikel Arteta. Indeed, the Spaniard recently lauded Arteta for his work at The Emirates.
And ahead of Arsenal v Manchester City this weekend, Fabregas has been having his say on the Gunners.
Cesc Fabregas on Arsenal’s midfield
As we know, Fabregas played plenty of games in the Arsenal midfield alongside some fine players.
The likes of Patrick Vieira and Gilberto Silva are standout names from his time at the club.
Right now, of course, the Arsenal midfield is being marshalled by Declan Rice and sometimes, Jorginho.
And speaking about the need to have trust in your midfielders, Fabregas has lauded what Declan Rice has brought to the team since signing in the summer.

Declan Rice the ‘complete package’
Fabregas was speaking about Rice on the Planet Premier League podcast this week.
And when it comes to Rice, the Spanish legend is under no illusions as to how good the Englishman is.
“I think he’s brought everything. Dynamism, physicality, quality, intelligence, maturity. He’s the complete package in midfield in my opinion. He can play as a double pivot, he can play also by himself. He can play higher up as a number eight. I think he looks like a very intelligent boy as well. He knows his limitations so I feel safe. I see him play and I’m like ‘I don’t think this boy will make a mistake in big games’,” Fabregas said.
“Listen, I don’t know what will happen on Sunday. But he gives you that trust. In midfield, in big games, you want players who take responsibility, who have personality. Players who you can trust. Especially against a top Man City team. I think Arsenal and Arsenal fans, when they have Declan in there they feel safe, and that’s a very big plus.”
Rice will hope to be on the winning side this weekend against City and outdo another top midfielder, Rodri, in the middle.
Should the Gunners come out on top, then the title is very much in their hands.
A loss, however, and a sense of deja-vu from last term could creep in.
