'Complete midfielder' on Arsenal radar has dropped big hint about move, he could be Arteta's own Kante - TBR View
Arsenal have a lot of strengthening to do in the summer transfer window.
Not only do the Gunners desperately need new centre-forwards, but central midfielders too.
Mohamed Elneny’s contract expires at the end of the season and Ainsley Maitland-Niles’ future is uncertain.
Over the past few weeks, there has been speculation linking Arsenal with Palmeiras star Danilo.
In March, Calciomercato.it claimed that the Gunners are ‘vigilant’ of Danilo’s situation.
And in April, La Lazio Siamo Noi also reported interest from Mikel Arteta’s side in the 21-year-old.
Now, Danilo has dropped a big hint regarding his future, suggesting he’s open to a Premier League move.
Danilo has been called up to the Brazil national team, leading to interest from the nation’s media.
The young midfielder spoke to UOL Esporte about his plans for the future.
Danilo revealed that he’s been told to effectively prepare for a big move to England, including learning English.
“They told me: ‘You’ll have a good season and, when the time comes, you’ll leave,’” he said, via Sport Witness.
“‘How are you going to talk, are you going to communicate with the coach?
“‘How is he going to talk to you, how will you understand?”
“And I thought and said: ‘Wow, that’s right’. Then I started studying it.”
UOL also recalled that Danilo faced Chelsea in the Club World Cup.
He was able to take a picture with one of his idols, N’Golo Kante.
The outlet then said that, just like the Frenchman, the Palmeiras player seems destined for the Premier League.
That is why it would be no surprise to see him practising his English in London, Liverpool or Manchester, they added.
“He has to play in the Premier League”
Recently, Dudu – Danilo’s Palmeiras teammate – urged him to join a club like Arsenal in the near future.
“He is a star, he has to play in the Premier League,” Danilo’s teammate Dudu told ESPN, via Goal.com.
“I always tell him: ‘You have to play for Manchester United, or Arsenal.
“He has to stay calm, he is a kid who gives his all, but I tell him: ‘You are a player for Chelsea, those kind of teams’.
“He scores, he gets in the area, he helps with marking. He’s a complete midfielder in Brazilian
Arsenal struck gold with Gabriel Martinelli several years ago.
Could they do so again by signing Danilo? And if so, could he become Arteta’s very own Kante?
