BBC commentator Conor McNamara was left unimpressed with Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya’s passing against Sevilla tonight.

McNamara was covering the game on BBC Radio 5 Live and claimed Raya looked ‘wobbly’ between the sticks once again.

Arsenal started the game quite slowly but created the better opportunities in the first half.

Indeed, Gabriel Martinelli went close before eventually opening the scoring right before the break.

But Sevilla enjoyed some bright moments in the first half and nearly capitalised on an error from David Raya.

The Spaniard played a loose pass out from the back but Sevilla failed to make the most of the slip-up.

And McNamara believes that Raya’s distribution has been a concern for Arsenal.

McNamara unimpressed with Raya’s passing

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, McNamara highlighted Raya’s mistake in the first half and raised concerns over the goalkeeper’s passing.

“David Raya has tried to stay out of the spotlight tonight but he’s had an incident very similar to the one at the weekend,” he said.

“He’s given the ball away very cheaply, trying to pass out of the penalty area under a high press.

“On this occasion they didn’t concede but it has got to be a concern that he looks wobbly in that sort of situation again.”

Raya’s passing has come under scrutiny over the past few days after he looked shaky between the sticks against Chelsea.

The 28-year-old was at fault for Mykhaylo Mudryk’s goal and gave the ball away in dangerous areas in the game at Stamford Bridge.

But while the £30 million man nearly made a costly error tonight, he looked assured apart from that one moment.

As for Arsenal, they came flying out the blocks in the second half and grabbed a deserved goal through Gabriel Jesus.

Yet, Sevilla came back into the game through a Nemanja Gudelj header and Arsenal had to defend resiliently to see out a 2-1 win.
