'Come out of retirement': Arsenal fans laud Ian Wright following club post
Yesterday marked 30 years to the day since Arsenal signed legendary striker Ian Wright from Crystal Palace, and the rest as they say, is history.
Wright went on to become a club legend at Arsenal and his exploits both on and off the field are much admired in football. The club paid homage to Wright yesterday on their Twitter account, reminding fans of the importance of his signing back in 1991.
The charismatic striker scored 185 goals for Arsenal during his time with the club. At the time, it stood as a record before Thierry Henry’s exploits surpassed the England man.
Arsenal fans love Ian Wright
Nowadays, Arsenal are struggling for what some would call a ‘proper number nine’ in attack. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is out of form, and Alexandre Lacazette has dipped away too.
Younger options like Eddie Nketiah and Folarin Balogun have also not quite got going. Of course, they could well have bright futures and could even look at Wright as an example of being a later bloomer.
Gunners fans, then, were all over Twitter yesterday as they reminisced about Wright and what it would be like to have someone like him now.
Here’s what some Arsenal fans had to say about Ian Wright.
Forever a legend. You made me truly pin my flag to the Arsenal with your boggling dance 😀
This guy for me is our biggest legend as the way he cares the football club, he doesn’t say Arsenal he always says we(as Arsenal)
