Tottenham Hotspur loanee Kazaiah Sterling was on the scoresheet as Sunderland boosted their automatic promotion hopes with a 3-0 win at Accrington Stanley.

In one of their three matches in hand, Sunderland picked up a strong victory to move within three points of second-place Barnsley.

Sterling came off the bench to feature for the first time in nearly a month and scored his first ever professional goal.

The 20-year-old was on hand to tap in from close range to make it 3-0 to the Black Cats and secure the victory.

It has been a frustrating start to life on loan for Sterling, who joined Sunderland from Tottenham in January until the end of the season.

Sterling made his debut in early February with a 30-minute cameo against AFC Wimbledon but then had to wait for more than a month before his next outing.

That was a one-minute appearance against Barnsley in mid-March and just less than a month later, he was handed his third outing.

Sterling shook off various injury concerns to come off the bench and score for Sunderland. Here are some tweets from Spurs fans in reaction to that.
