Newcastle United finally picked up their first win of the season yesterday at the 11th attempt.
The Magpies beat Watford 1-0 at St James’ Park, courtesy of Ayoze Perez’s second-half goal.
Perez scored a header on 65 minutes and that proved to be the only goal of the game.
It lifts Newcastle out of the relegation zone and up to 17th place for the meantime.
After the game, Newcastle fans were effusive in their praise for all of their players but were particularly keen to congratulate Fabian Schar.

The 26-year-old came off the bench to replace Jamal Lascelles and produced a magnificent display.
Both his defensive work and his ability to carry the ball forward helped Newcastle secure the three points.
The Switzerland international was making just his third appearance of the season for the Magpies and it was only his second Premier League outing.
But Schar looked at home and helped keep Isaac Success quiet when Watford came forward in search of an equaliser.
Here is what Newcastle fans were saying about Schar after his dominant performance helped towards the club’s first win of the season.
