Stan Collymore thinks Chelsea could convince Harry Kane to leave Tottenham
Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore believes Chelsea have the pulling power to lure Harry Kane away from Tottenham this summer.
Kane watched on from high up the pitch yesterday as Arsenal dismantled Spurs in the NLD. It was yet another day of misery in Spurs shirt for Kane, who is seeing the team struggle under Antonio Conte this term.
Despite that, Kane is in good goal scoring form himself. Kane currently sits on 15 goals in the league, only behind Erling Haaland at Man City.
However, talk has continued to circle over whether or not Kane will eventually jack it in at Tottenham and go in search of silverware. And writing in his column for CaughtOffside, Collymore believes Chelsea would be the club most likely to tempt Kane away.
“Kane is an interesting one, if he gives any kind of indication that he wants to leave Spurs, he’ll be a wanted man,” Collymore wrote.
“If Man United, Newcastle and Chelsea all went for him, it could very well be the Blues who convince him. It wouldn’t be a hard move to make, the player wouldn’t need to relocate and he’d have a ready-made space available in their squad.”
TBR’s View: Kane to Chelsea would sting for Tottenham fans
Now this would hurt Tottenham. Many could probably have understood it had Kane moved to Man City last summer.
But if Kane – lauded as incredible by Harry Redknapp – was to join Chelsea and the Todd Boehly revolution, then Spurs fans wouldn’t half be disgruntled.
Outside of Arsenal, Tottenham probably enjoy beating Chelsea more than any other side. To see their soon to be record goal scorer move to the Blues would tarnish a lot of things.
To Kane’s credit, he’d probably not do it. But the longer he goes without winning, the more the chances of him moving to a club like Chelsea becomes a possibility.
