Colin Dagba nips Everton transfer rumours in the bud

Colin Dagba has been talking about his future, amid rumours Everton could be interested in the PSG defender.

It was reported by Paris United that Everton are considering Dagba as a long-term replacement for Seamus Coleman, with Djibril Sidibe struggling to convince since his arrival from Monaco in the summer.

How reliable that source is regarding Everton news is up for debate. However, the player himself has seemingly ended this transfer rumour before it even gets off the ground.

Speaking to Yahoo Sport, Dagba made it clear he does not want to leave PSG.

“It’s a great pride to extend with Paris Saint-Germain. If I could extend until 2080, it would be nice too. I feel that the club is counting on me. I want to register in the long term with the PSG. I would like to stay as long as possible at the club.

“It would really be a great pride for me. It is the largest club in France. Having this confidence to be able to play in this club is something exceptional. After, I love the city. I am very good with my teammates, I have my family here too. It’s perfect for me.”

This certainly doesn’t seem like a rumour Everton fans should start getting excited about.

Firstly, it is clear that the 21-year-old has no current desire to leave the French capital. He played himself into the first-team last season and continued in that role at the Parcs des Princes this season before injury halted his progress.

On top of that, Everton seemingly have a long-term Coleman replacement in the form of Jonjoe Kenny. The England under-21 international is in fine form at loan club Schalke and it would be no surprise if he is given a more prominent role at Goodison Park next season.

This rumour appears to be dead on arrival.
