A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to praise Steven Bergwijn for his display in Spurs’ friendly loss on Friday, which included an assist.
Jose Mourinho’s charges took on fellow Premier League side Norwich in a game divided into four quarters of 30 minutes apiece at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Prior to the season being suspended, Bergwijn was on the sidelines along with Harry Kane, Moussa Sissoko and Son Heung-min, but all four featured on Friday.
The Tottenham January signing provided the cross for Erik Lamela to open the scoring in the 24th minute with a diving header past Tim Krul.
Lamela, Kane and Serge Aurier then had chances to extend the team’s lead in the second quarter.
Dele Alli and Sissoko were introduced in the third quarter, the former also coming close to getting on the scoresheet.
Youngsters Harvey White, Dennis Cirkin and George Marsh were all given run outs in the final period, during which Norwich struck twice through Josip Drmic and Mario Vrancic.
Along with Lamela’s goal and Kane coming through unscathed, Bergwijn’s assist was a positive for the Spurs fanbase, who took to social media to praise the Dutchman:
