Newcastle United have reportedly set their sights on Flamengo and Brazil striker Gabriel Barbosa.
The Magpies are currently on the lookout for players to bolster their ranks in the January transfer window.
Newcastle are struggling near the bottom of the Premier League table.

However, their recent takeover means they have a sizeable war chest going into the transfer window.
In addition, the Magpies are desperate for firepower, particularly in wake of Callum Wilson’s injury.
According to The Mirror, Newcastle were eyeing Darwin Nunez, but Benfica aren’t looking to sell.
The Magpies have therefore turned their attention to Barbosa, also known as Gabigol.
Flamengo are reportedly willing to strike a deal with Newcastle over the 25-year-old.
They’d apparently let Barbosa join on a six-month loan deal.
However, this would include with an obligation to buy for £17million if the Magpies stay up, according to the report.

Indeed, Pini Zahavi is reportedly trying to set up this loan move.
But the same time, there is a notable stumbling block.
Apparently, Barbosa is not convinced about moving to Tyneside in the New Year.
He’s reportedly unsure Newcastle will be able to attract many other top players next month.
Indeed, the former Inter striker has told Flamengo he prefers to stay with them, added the report.
If Gabigol changes his mind and opts to give Newcastle a go, Eddie Howe would have a top talent at his disposal.
The striker scored an impressive 29 goals from 43 appearances for club and country in 2021.
