Club struggling to agree new deal with £18m winger who Leeds now want to sign

Leeds United are in the market for further reinforcements after losing a number of key assets this summer transfer window.

Crysencio Summerville has left for West Ham United, Archie Gray made the switch to Tottenham Hotspur and in the last week, Georginio Rutter has joined Brighton and Hove Albion.

So, evidently, there’s certainly a need for some attacking signings and now it’s just emerged that one of their rumoured targets is failing to agree a new contract at his club.

Sunderland struggling to tie Jack Clarke to new deal

TBR reported on Saturday that Leeds United are interested in signing Sunderland winger Jack Clarke.

Now it’s just emerged that Sunderland are trying to tie down Clarke to a new deal in a bid to fend off interest, according to Alan Nixon.

Though, the former Leeds and Tottenham attacker is yet to agree on fresh terms and none of the offers so far have appealed to him.

Perhaps that gives The Whites a window of opportunity to make a move in the remaining 12 days of the window.

Jack Clarke price tag

Clarke has enjoyed two phenomenal seasons in the Championship since returning to the division with Sunderland.

He’s netted 24 times whilst laying on 16 assists across the last two campaigns and is already off the mark this year.

As such, Sunderland are thought to value him at around £18m, which has put a number of suitors off over the last few weeks.

Though, given Leeds have raised near enough £140m in player sales – once the Rutter deal goes through – it should be a pretty feasible deal to do.
