Club reportedly preparing to replace Celtic transfer target

Celtic’s luck could be in over Christopher Jullien, with Toulouse reportedly eyeing up a replacement for the defender.

Les Violets claim the French club have identified Strasbourg stopper Pablo Martinez as a possible incoming, and that Jullien’s departure from the club this summer is ‘probable’.

The Hoops are said to been keen on the 6ft 5in centre-back, with L’Equipe claiming an £8 million move could be in the offing.

Celtic do face competition for Jullien, with La Liga outfit Celta Vigo also in the hunt according to The Scottish Sun.

Neil Lennon is currently short at the back, with Dedryck Boyata having departed to join Hertha Berlin, and Filip Benkovic having returned to parent club Leciester City – although the Croatian could yet return.

TBR’s view

If there’s any truth to Les Violets’ claim, then it’s a big boost for Celtic who are crying out for central defenders.

Toulouse looking at replacements would suggest they are open to losing Jullien, who would be a great addition.

Jullien made 35 appearances last term and did stand out in a poor side.

The colossus would slot in alongside Kristoffer Ajer and could give opposition attackers nightmares.
